Chamonix Town Centre
The town centre of Chamonix in the heart of the French Rhone-Alpes, photographed in mid-summer. A very popular winter ski resort, it was the site of the first Winter Olympics in 1924. It is now famous for its spectacular cable car ride up to the Aiguille du Midi at 3842 metres, which when constructed in 1955 was the highest cable car in the world.
