Saint Ann's Chapel and The Lighthouse
A famous group of historic monuments at Castro Urdiales in Northern Spain can be seen from the beginning of the long breakwater. The simple building with the flat roof on the rocky island is the remains of Saint Ann's Chapel, La Ermita de Santa Ana, constructed in the 17th century to house the statue of Nuestra Señora del Mar (Our Lady of the Sea). Behind in the centre is the Gothic church of Santa Maria de la Asuncion, the most important gothic monument in the region. To the right is the 13th century castle and lighthouse, el Faro del castillo de Santa Ana, which is open to the public.
