	An 8km long golden beach runs from Playa del Ingles to Maspalomas beach, which is very popular with sun worshippers. The area is backed by extensive sand dunes and a protected nature reserve. In February 2011 severe storms removed most of the sand from the beach leaving just pebbles, but in September when this photograph was taken, the beach was back to its pristine condition.
