St Gabriel's Mouth
In early times this was a favourite spot used by smugglers from the nearby village of Chideock, being the only access to the cliff top along the coast between Charmouth and Seatown. It is a natural gully formed by a small stream and is now accessible by a new flight of wooden steps linking to the coastal footpath between Charmouth and Golden Cap. The original steps were destroyed by landslips a few year's ago and then rebuilt as shown here, but in August 2012 there was another large landslip and the steps were closed once again.
