Another walker's paradise is at
Männlichen
, on the ridge between Grindlewald and Wengen. It is connected to Grindlewald
by Europe's longest gondola lift measuring 6.2km , which is also especially
equiped for wheelchair users with up to two helpers.There is also an asphalt
pathway at the top suitable for wheelchairs, which links the gondola station to
the restaurant.
Männlichen can also be reached by cable-car from Wengen.
From the summit there is a 2½ hour walk back down to Wengen, or one of
about 3 hours to Grund, just outside Grindlewald.
Alternatively, you can walk to Kleine Scheidegg in about 1¼ hours and
then take the train down to Wengen.
Using the Regional Pass: |
- From Interlaken WEST walk or take the bus to Interlaken EAST.
- Take the train to Grindlewald. (Chose the correct carriages to avoid changing at Zweilutschinen).
- From the station walk or take the train one stop to Grund.
- Take the gondola lift up to Männlichen.
- Walk back down to Kleine Scheidegg, or to Wengen, or to Grindlewald.
- Return by train to Zweilutschinen.
- Change trains to Interlaken EAST.
- Walk or bus to Interlaken WEST.

- Take good walking shoes.
