Mürren is a traffic-free village situated on a plateau at 1,638m. it can be reached either by cog-railway from Lauterbrunnen to Grütshalp and then a short train ride, or by a two-stage cable-car from Stechelberg, 5km further up the Lauterbrunnen valley. from Mürren you can reach the Schilthorn.
From Lauterbrunnen, you can take the post-bus to the Trümmelbach waterfalls (3km) which need about an hour to visit. You can then continue on foot or by bus to Stechelberg and on up to Mürren.
From Mürren there is a very pleasant downhill walk taking about 1½ hours back to Grütschalp with exceptional views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau when the weather is clear. You will go past the station for the cog railway up to Allmondhubel (1,906m), which is worthwhile if you have the time. There is also a train along this route if you prefer, or you can pick it up at the mid-station Winteregg.
From Grütschalp you can return down to Lauterbrumnnen by the new cable car.
Lauterbrunnen is well worth a visit, and make a point of walking up past the
church towards the Staubach waterfall.

- From Interlaken WEST.
- Take the bus or walk through the town to Interlaken EAST.
- Catch the train to Lauterbrunnen via Wilderswill. (choose the correct section of the train for Lauterbrunnen to avoid changing at Zweilutschinen).
- Catch the post-bus to the Trümmelbach waterfalls.
- Visit the falls (about an hour) and continue on to Stechleberg by bus or on foot.
- Take the two-stage cable-car up to Mürren via Gimmelwald.
- Walk back through the village to the Allmondhubel cog railway.
- Travel to the top and back.
- Continue on to the railway station at the end of the village.
- Either catch the train here, or walk to Grütschalp.
- Pick up the train at the mid-station Winteregg if you wish.
- At Grütschalp, take the cog railway down to Lauterbrunnen.
- Walk up through the village to the Staubach waterfall.
- Return by train to Interlaken EAST.
- Walk or take the bus to Interlaken WEST.

- Take your guest card and a waterproof jacket with a hood for the Trümmelbach waterfalls.
- Choose a clear day if you are walking from Mürren to Grütschalp.
- Explore the town of Lauterbrunnen. (walk up to the Staubach waterfall if you have time).
