Schynige Platte
Schynige Platte

The The Schynige Platte , (shiny plateau) is an excellent walking area reached by cog-railway in about 50 minutes from Wilderswill, just outside Interlaken. From the top station there is a circular route which you can follow in either direction back to the station in about 2 hours or so.

At one point there are spectacular views of both Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, and on the other side you have fantistic views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Good shoes are essential as some of the tracks are a bit rocky, and you may even come across some snow in early season. Schynige Platte

Near to the station is a well laid out alpine garden which contains some 500 varieties of plant growing in their natural habitat, and displayed in 15 different categories. The best time to visit the garden is from mid June to Late September.
