This panorama shows the famous Cobb, Monmouth Beach, and Lyme Regis harbour after a snowfall. The beach is named after The Duke of Monmouth, who landed there with his troops in 1865, having sailed from the Netherlands. It is now a favourite area for fossil hunters, and has many fine examples of giant ammonites, too big to be carried away.
Visitors also come to see this harbour wall, known as The Cobb, which featured in the film 'The French Lieutenant's Woman' and also the tv production of Jane Austen's 'Persuasion'
