This is a view from the historic passenger steamer Balmoral as it passes the western tip of the Isle of Wight and the famous 'Needles'. The ship was making its first ever cruise from West Bay near Bridport on 1st June 2006, and following the famous Jurassic Coastline.
The present lighthouse which can be seen at the right hand side of the Needles, started work in 1859. It is 109 ft high and the light can be seen for up to 14 miles away.
