This was the apparent chaos back in May 2006 when the whole of the Lyme Regis sea front was being reconstructed as part of a £20 million coastal protection scheme.
After importing some 32,000 tonnes of granite from Norway, 35,000 tonnes of sand from France, and 75,000 tonnes of shingle from the Isle of Wight, the beach area with a new sea wall, and the Marine Parade were eventually finished and reopened to the public on 1st July 2006.
A view of the finished beach after the reconstruction works were completed can be seen here.
