This was taken on a dull wintry afternoon when the town was unusually deserted, a stark contrast to the summer season when it is packed with traffic and tourists.
Lyme Regis has a wealth of small independent shops selling anything from gifts, clothes, teddy bears, books, pastries, fudge, sportswear, and of course locally discovered fossils, for which the town is most famous. There are also numerous art galleries, a working pottery, and many pubs and restaurants.
The Regent Cinema seen here with the car parked in front, is one of a decreasing number left in the country, but sadly
it was completely destroyed by a fire in March 2016, although plans are going ahead to rebuild it.
